Jointly organized by the Sports Bureau and Macau Elderly Sports Association, co-organized by the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau, Macao Federation of Trade Unions, the Women's General Association of Macau and Macao Polytechnic Institute Seniors Academy, the Macao Elderly Sports Day 2016 was held at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion on 18th September, attracting more than 2,000 participant-times. Eight sporting activities were carried out and three health examination booths were set up at the venue, enabling the elderly to take part in the event and enjoy the sports with their families.
Various organizations brought performances and guests drew raffles for the elderly at the opening ceremony in joyous atmosphere. During the event, the elderly participated in a number of sporting activities and health examinations. The organizers hoped to enable the elderly to share the fun of sports with their families and the general public through the Sports Day, better publicize the concept of "Sports for All - Let's Exercise for a Better Health" and encourage the elderly to take an active part in sports for enriching their leisure life and fostering exercising habits by enjoying the sports.
