The 14th ASFAA Congress Macao 2016, authorized by Asiania Sports For All Association (ASFAA) and hosted by the Sports Bureau, was held in Macao on May 12. At the congress, groups engaged in sports for all from over 10 countries and regions in the Asian-Pacific Region had exchanges and discussions around the theme “Leisure Activities Promote Sport for All”.
The opening ceremony of the congress was hosted by Dr. Alexis Tam Chon Weng, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Feng Jianzhong, Honorary President of ASFAA, Ju-Ho Chang, TAFISA President, Vong Iao Lek, ASFAA President and Pun Weng Kun, President of the Sports Bureau. At the congress, Pun Weng Kun was elected as President of ASFAA for the next four years. Other elected members of ASFAA Board are from Australia, Malaysia, Israel, Mainland China, Iran, Japan, South Korea and Hong Kong.
Promote Leisure Sport for All
During the 14th ASFAA Congress Macao 2016, ASFAA held the Board Meeting and Member Meeting and the Member Meeting elected members of the new Board. With “Leisure Activities Promote Sport for All” as the theme, this congress has invited scholars from the Mainland, Hong Kong, Japan, Israel and Portugal to update attendees from various regions on the development of sport for all.
Countries and regions gathered to exchange ideas
This congress had five topics for discussion. Keynote speakers gave speeches on these topics and communicated with people engaged in sport for all from the Mainland, Indonesia, India, Bangladesh, Iran, Israel, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong and Macao to share experience.
Training provided by the Macao base
The Sports Bureau joined ASFAA in 2000, became a member of ASFAA Board in 2008, and was elected as President in 2012. To continue the training work in sport for all, ASFAA established the ASFAA Training Center in Macao in 2010. The launch of the center has provided a training base for sport for all and constituted an important platform for the exchanges of knowledge and experience among relevant personnel, which is conducive to the development of sport for all in the Asian-Pacific Region.
As a member of ASFAA, the Sports Bureau has been active in participating in and promoting activities of ASFAA. To further promote exchanges among relevant personnel and growth of sport for all in Macao, the 14th ASFAA Congress Macao 2016 has been held in Macao with the aim to strengthen the connection between Macao and the international community in sport and enhance the image of Macao as a healthy city.
