Jointly organized by the Sports Bureau and the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau and co-organized by the Health Bureau, the 2016 World Challenge Day took place on 25th May. This activity called for full engagement of Macao citizens and the participants need to exercise for 15 consecutive minutes on that day. Under the strong support of government departments, institutions, businesses, community organizations, schools and all social sectors, 260,670 people participated in the event, accounting for 40.30% of the total Macao population. According to the statistics of The Association For International Sport for All (TAFISA), Macao’s counterpart, Poltava of Ukraine, with a population of 295,000, had 600 people completing the 15-minute exercise, accounting for 0.2% of the entire population. Macao won the competition successfully and got the first place again.
The organizer hopes to convey a message to residents that exercising is beneficial to people’s wellbeing and calls on their consistent engagement in sports, and let them enjoy the pleasure of sports and make it a daily routine.
