To facilitate the exchange and cooperation between Sichuan Province and Macao in the field of sports, the Sports Bureau organized a youth sports exchange delegation composed of 42 people, so as to participate in the “Sichuan-Macao Youth Sports Exchange Activity” hosted in Chengdu, Sichuan Province from 27 to 31 March. The delegation engaged in sports exchange with the youths there in four areas: martial arts, table tennis, tennis and synchronized swimming. During the exchange activity, the coaches of both sides shared their experiences in sports training with each other. The youth athletes from both regions also engaged in professional training, so that the youth athletes from Macao could experience the circumstance where the professional training in mainland is conducted, and nurture positive attitudes towards training.
Since the sports departments from both regions signed the “Letter of Intent on Sichuan-Macao Sports Exchange and Cooperation” in 2009, this year marked the 8th year of the “Sichuan-Macao Youth Sports Exchange Activity” hosted under the framework of the Letter of Intent. Through this exchange activity, youth athletes from Macao gained deeper knowledge of martial arts, table tennis, tennis, and synchronized swimming, understood the way that mainland athletes are trained, and improved their own skill levels. This activity also further strengthened the partnership between regions in the field of sports, and advanced the development of sports events in both regions.
