After The Macao Men's and Women's Volleyball Team participated in the Hong Kong - Macau Inter-port Contest in January, they went to Hong Kong and Kunming for participating in “Hong Kong - Macau - Guangdong Inter-port Volleyball Contest” and “Hong Kong and Macau's Volleyball Teams' Encounter in Kunming: Invitation Contest of Cross-strait Four Regions for Men's and Women's Teams” respectively. During the Invitation Contest of Cross-strait Four regions in Kunming, the Men's Team won the champions, while the Women's Team ranked 7th.
The Experienced Players Teaming up with the Novices
During the Invitation Contest of Cross-strait Four Regions in Kunming, both Men's and the Women's Volleyball Team were in the “replacement” period, as both teams let young players in the Inter-port Contest be the key players with the help of a few adjustments. In the Men's Team, Lam Ka Fai and Lui Si Kit respectively replaced experienced players, Chan Pak Tou and Iun Chi Pang, as the hitter and the setter. In the Women's Team, Wong Chi Man and Chou Ka Man, two additional fresh players, were included. The Men's Team performed excellently in this contest. Being led by experienced players such as Leong Kuan Kin, Chan Ka Hei, etc., and being supported strongly by the rising star, Tam Chit Meng, the Men's Team defeated the Home Team Kunming, Kunming University of Science and Technology, and National Sun Yat-sen University from Taiwan sequentially. As a result, they won the championship by winning all 6 matches.
The Women's Team Ranked 7th
The Women's Team, ranked 7th, had an outstanding performance in the contest. When they competed against Kunming, Kunming University of Science and Technology, Qujing, Taiyuan Third Experimental School, Hong Kong Youth, National Sun Yat-sen University from Taiwan, Sichuan Secondary School Students, and Chongqing Technology and Business University, they made the Home Team Kunming score zero, and defeated Qujing, winning two matches in total. Both Ao Chi Weng and Ng Wai Keong, the main coaches of the Macao Men's and Women's Team, thought that as it was an intense contest, different players had the chance to be trained by competing with others. The young players made great progress in the real contest. The volleyball teams hoped that through this contest, different strengths and weaknesses of the teams would be discovered, and thus the teams could make adjustments before any regional contests that take place in the coming year. The teams received targeted training for achieving stellar results.
