As the“2018 Wushu Masters Challenge”was in progress, the“World University Wushu Championships”, “ 'Belt and Road' Dragon and Lion Dance Invitational Tournament”, and“Sanda Challenge Competition” were also held and were highly regarded. In particular, Chio Wai Keong won a gold medal in the men's southern fist event, the finale of the“2018 World University Wushu Championships”. This is also the first gold medal that Macao won in this event.
The finale event of the“World University Wushu Championships”was held on August 5. A total of 11 contestants competed in the men's southern fist event. Chio Wai Keong, with his stable performance, scored 9.45 and won the first gold medal in this event for Macao. Including the silver that he had won in the southern cudgel event, he won 1 gold and 1 silver in total individually at the championship this year. In the competition of the men's cudgel event, Cheong Wai Seng won a bronze scoring 9.32 while the winner and the second place were the contestants from Malaysia and Russia respectively. In addition, Chong Ka Seng won a silver in the Tai-Chi sword event. Kan Kai Wa quitted the competition of the men's 60 kg weight class sanda event because of an injury sustained in the competition among the best four, winning a bronze. Macao Wushu team achieved brilliant results in the“World University Wushu Championships”, winning a total of 1 gold, 2 silvers and 2 bronzes.
In the southern lion dance event of the“ 'Belt and Road' Dragon and Lion Dance Invitational Tournament”, Foshan Nanhai Huangfeihong Zhonglian Cable Lion Dragon and Martial Art Association took home the title of champion with the score of 9.25. The second place was Hong Kong Chinese Martial Arts Dragon & Lion Dance Association Hung Kuen Lee Yun Fook Lion Dance. Kuantan Builder's Association Lion & Dragon Dance Club from Malaysia earned the third place. In terms of the results of the Luminous Dragon Dance Competition, Malaysia Gao Feng Lion & Dragon Dance Athletic Association won the championship with the score of 9.25, while Macau Lo Leong Sport General Association and Hong Kong Northern Shaolin Lung Chi Cheung Martial Arts Association were the second and the third place respectively.
In the“Sanda Challenge Competition”held in Tap Seac Square, local athletes Ku Hio Lam, Chan Kin Hou and Choi Fei Long defeated contestants from Anhui and Foshan in the men's 48kg weight class, men's 56 kg weight class and men's 75 kg weight class event, winning honor for Macao.
