The “3rd Guangdong and Macau Men's Basketball Cup 2019” took place from January 19 to 21 in two matches. Eventually, Guangdong team won two consecutive matches with 105:73 and 91:89, becoming the champion with two wins. Macao men basketball team featured young players last year in the Asian Cup Basketball Competition. They lost to Guangdong team with 73:105. In the next match, they competed as the home team at the Macao Stadium Indoor Hall. The players were in high morale and tied with Guangdong team at 21:21 in the first quarter. In the second quarter, both teams once had an edge over the other and tied up, but regrettably Guangdong team scored consecutively in the middle of the competition and Macao team lagged behind after halftime with 35:43.

After three quarters, although Macao team was 13 points lagging behind, they refused to give up in the last quarter. Players Hoi Fong Iam, Lam Teng Long, Ng Weng Pang and Tang Man Io collaborated to score. Two and a half minutes before the end, Macao team surpassed Guangdong team by 1 point. In the last five seconds before the end, the two teams tied at 89:89. Macao team got the right to serve after the pause. Kou Chong Kei served at the sideline but it was blocked by Guangdong team. Xiao Hailiang also shot a layup and won another two points. Finally, Macao team lost another match with 89:91 and failed to get the Guangdong - Macao Cup.
