In January this year, Pui Chi Wa defeated her senior member Ao I Kuan and became the women's champion in the women's singles final of the Macao Badminton Open and broke the record set by her brother, Pui Pang Fong, becoming the youngest Macao champion as recorded by the Badminton Federation of Macau at the age of 14.
As a young player influenced by her family, she started to learn badminton and receive training at the age of 6. Pui Chi Wa has been performing well in the junior group over the past few years. She considered winning the champion in the Macao Badminton Open this year very unforgettable. Defeating her senior Ao I Kuan with outstanding skills, she won the champion title in the final match. She felt excited when learning that she had won. This sense of achievement made her more passionate about badminton.
Pui Chi Wa knows that she is still a bit weak at speed and flexibility and is being trained with specific targets at this stage. Last year, she competed in the U15 category of an international event on behalf of Macao. After the close victory in the first round, she could not continue to compete because of health reasons. Despite the regrettable condition, she still looks forward to achieving better results in the inter-school competition and fought for Macao's honour.
