Race to the Top of the Macau Tower was co-organized by the Sports Bureau, General Association of Athletics of Macau and Macau Tower Convention and Entertainment Center and took place in the morning on February 10 (the 6th Day of the Chinese New Year) at Sai Van Lake Square and Macau Tower. Around 600 runners accepted the challenge to run on the streets which were 4 kilometers in length and to climb up 1,298 steps to the 61st floor of Macau Tower. Eventually, Iao Kuan Un and Hoi Long became the best male and female athlete respectively.
The event commenced at 8:30 a.m. The commencement ceremony was officiated by Vice President of the Sports Bureau Lao Cho Un and Deputy Director of the Athletic General Association of Athletics of Macau Chan Pou Sin. Six hundred runners began at Sai Van Lake Square. Iao Kuan Un, the first runner who entered Macau Tower, kept leading throughout the race and won the overall champion title and men's open (B) group champion, with the result 24 minutes 01 second. In terms of the women's group, Hoi Long, who finished the street race ranking the 12th, demonstrated her persistence and surpassed many contestants. She crossed the finishing line as the 4th contestant, with the result 25 minutes 49 seconds, and defended the champion title of the women's open (B) group.
