The Wushu General Association of Macau dispatched 18 athletes to Brunswick Bay City, Brunei to participate in the 10th Asian Youth Wushu Championship, which was hosted by the Wushu Federation of Asia and undertaken by the Brunei Martial Arts Association. Macao athletes got 7 golds, 9 silvers and 4 bronzes in total.
Macao athletes kept achieving victories in individual events. Female athlete Wong Sam In's performance was even more exceptional. She won the champion title in the southern-styled boxing in the youth category with 9.43 points and won two silvers in the southern-styled broadsword and southern-styled cudgel. She won 2 golds and 2 silvers all together in the event this year. In addition, Cheung Ioi Chit won a gold in the southern-styled boxing with a high mark of 9.45 points. Men's youth category Lei Cheok Ieong and women's youth category Wong Weng Ian won the champion in the broadsword and sword events with 9.36 points and 9.35 points respectively. Cheung Ut Ieng and Choi Hou Cheong from the young minor category showed their potential and won the champion titles with 9.10 and 9.14 points respectively.
Apart from the brilliant results achieved in the individual events, the team also performed their best in the finale team events. Cheung Ioi Chit, Chan Chi Ngou, Chin Ka Hou, Lei Cheok Ieong, Kuong Chi Hin, Pou Hio Lam, Hung Si Fan, Wong Weng Ian, Lao Un Kei and other athletes took part in the team events and finally achieved 9.54 points among six strong teams, wining the final gold for Macao in the event.
