Strong Sport, Strong China-China's Sporting Development and Achievements Exhibition of Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the People's Republic of China, held by the Macao Special Administrative Region and the General Administration of Sport of China and undertaken by the Sports Bureau and Press and Publicity Department of the General Administration of Sport of China, took place from November 11 to December 8 at Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion. The whole exhibition lasted 28 days in total, attracting a great number of residents and visitors.
“The Exhibition of Sports Achievements Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of the People's Republic of China - Strong Athletes Make China Strong” had been held in August in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province and highly regarded. It was Macao's honour to become the second place where the exhibition took place.
Through the exhibition, residents and visitors could gain greater knowledge of the development of new China's sports affairs throughout the past 70 years from informative and organized sports theme exhibitions. Meanwhile, there was also an exhibition zone for displaying photos about Macao, demonstrating the significant achievements and development of Macao over the 20 years since the Special Administrative Region was established.
Pun Weng Kun, President of the Sports Bureau, stated in the opening ceremony that this exhibition of achievements fully demonstrated the achievements of the national sports affairs and people can look back at China's history of 70 years, when China gained remarkable results and sports -for -all programmes were well developed. The development of Macao's sports affairs over the past 20 years was also displayed.
There were six divisions in the exhibition showing new China's development in sports affairs, including “The Party's Leadership, Red Flag Fluttering, Sportsmanship, National Fitness, Sports Diplomacy and Prospect of Sports and the Prospect of the Nation. This exhibition showed many treasured photos and over a hundred delicate exhibits from the China Sports Museum, including the Olympic Games torches, medals and competition supplies for famous Chinese athletes.
