The inauguration ceremony of the Athletes Training and Development Centre was held on December 5 in order to facilitate the professional development of Macao's competitive sports in the future. Dr. Chui Sai On, the Then-Chief Executive of Macao SAR, officiated this ceremony. Pun Weng Kun, President of the Sports Bureau, stated that as the operation of the Centre had begun, it would become a significant milestone in Macao's development in sports. The Centre provides Macao's athletes a more optimal training platform for athletes, coaches and technical teams.
The Athletes Training and Development Centre is located in Rua de Ténis of Cotai (adjacent to Macao East Asian Games Dome), encompassing 2-storey multi-functional gymnasium, 5-storey training hall and a 25-meter indoor pool and a weight training centre. It allows various types of sports training to be conducted simultaneously. The total area available for sports training is 20,000 square meters. In addition, the Centre contains a 9-storey dormitory which can accommodate over 300 people, together with other supporting facilities including ladder conference rooms, restaurants, event rooms, fitness rooms, multifunction meeting rooms and offices.
