To celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of the People's Republic of China and the 20th Anniversary of the Macao Special Administrative Region, the “Olympic Gold Medalists Visit Macao Series---Meaningful Tour 2019”, hosted by the Sports and Olympic Committee of Macau, China and the Sports Bureau, undertaken by the Youth Committee of the Sports and Olympic Committee of Macau, China and sponsored by the Chinese Athlete Educational Foundation, took place from December 7 to 8, 2019. In this significant year, a group of Olympic gold medalists expressed their best wishes for all Macao residents and promoted positive attitudes.
In this two-day event, China sports stars, including Deng Yaping, Yao Ming, Li Xiaopeng and Guo Jinging visited social service institutions, secondary schools and universities in the neighborhoods. They also visited the newly established“Athletic Training and Development Centre”and the“Exhibition of Sports Achievement”, and attended the annual Charity Walk for a Million as well. During their visit in Macao, they interacted with local students and shared their experiences in the career to promote positive values.
On December 7, reputed gymnastics athletes Li Xiaoshuang, Tong Fei, Li Xiaopeng, Yang Wei and Li Shanshan, diving athletes Wu Minxia, Chen Ruolin, Qin Kai and He Zi, badminton athletes Fu Haifeng and Zhao Yunlei, shooting athlete Guo Wenzheng, swimming athlete Fu Yuanhui, Winter Olympics Short Track Speed Skating Li Jianrou and legendary Chinese athletes Deng Yaping and Yao Ming visited the University of Macau, Macau University of Science and Technology, Centro I Chon da União Geral das Associações dos Moradores de Macau and Federation of Labour Unions Comprehensive Service Centre of the North District, The Women's General Association of Macao, and Affiliated School of the University of Macau. They also visited the Athletic Training and Development Centre, which had just started being operated, and the“Exhibition of Sports Achievement”at Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion.
On December 8, led by Li Ling, the Olympic gold medalists participated in the Charity Walk for a Million together with Pun Weng Kun, President of the Sports Bureau and Ma Chi Seng, President of the Youth Committee of the Sports and Olympic Committee of Macao, China to support Macao residents.
