The 5th Asian Dragon and Lion Dance Championship, supported by the International Dragon and Lion Dance Federation, hosted by the Asian Dragon and Lion Federation and China Dragon and Lion Sports Association, and undertaken by the Ministry of Sports of Chongqing and the People's Government of Tongliang District, Chongqing, took place from October 28 to November 1 in Tongliang District, Chongqing. Macao dragon and lion team won with a“high speed”, winning three golds in three events: Dragon Dance, South Lion and North Lion. They also won a gold medal in the compulsory event of the North Lion. Macao team achieved a brilliant result of 4 golds, 1 silver and 1 bronze.
Apart from Dragon Dance, South Lion and North Lion, there were also six additional competitive Taolu events in this year's championship, including Compulsory, Selected, Traditional, Dragon Racing, Hurdle and Night Light Dragon. Macao team chose eight events: Dragon Dance, Racing Dragon, Night Light Dragon, Selected South Lion, Traditional South Lion, Compulsory North Lion and Racing North Lion.
In the contest held on the first day, Macao team won a gold medal in the compulsory event of North Lion with 8.56 points and Selected Taolu of South Lion with 9.06 points. They lost to Malaysia by a margin of 0.14 points and could only get a silver. Dragon Dance Selected Taolu won a bronze with 9.09 points. In the event on the next day, Macao team won 3 golds consecutively in the racing events of Dragon Dance, South Lion and North Lion. In Dragon Dance Racing event, Macao team defeated Malaysia and China with the result of 1 minute 0 second 160 and won a gold medal. They also defeated Vietnam and Indonesia with 25 seconds 690 and won the champion in South Lion Racing event. In North Lion Racing event, they became the champion with 1 minute 05 seconds 860.
