Ho Kai Pong, aged 24 this year, joined the training team two years ago. He won a gold medal in the Karate Group B men's individual event in the 2nd National Youth Games this year and was awarded the Merit Certificate by the SAR Government.
Ho Kai Pong was inspired by his elder brother. He realized how interesting karate was when he saw his brother practicing at home and started imitating his brother. His parents then sent him to
the Karate Academy to officially start learning karate. Thus, he became more fascinated by karate.
Initially, he started learning two events including combat and individual. Eventually, the individual event became his favourite as he thought that every Taolu was unique and different people could perform the same Taolu differently. That made it fascinating. Ho Kai Pong stated that he was deeply immersed in the process of practicing Taolu and enjoyed the sense of speed. He was committed to achieving excellence.
Having learned karate for six years, Ho Kai Pong joined the training team two years ago. As he had developed karate skills gradually, he participated in different events on behalf of Macao. He won the first gold medal in the Karate Group B men's individual event in the 2nd National Youth Games. Having stood on the podium representing Macao, he hopes that he can have more opportunities to compete and fight for honour for Macao.
