New Sports Committee holds meeting on fighting the effects of the epidemic
On March 13, the new 2020-2022 Sports Committee held their first plenary meeting at the Macau East Asian Games Dome. The meeting was chaired by Ms. Ao Ieong U, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, and due to the effects of Novel Coronavirus on the Macao sporting community, there was much debate on topics relating to this issue.
Secretary Ao Ieong U discussed the current state of the Macao sporting community during the outbreak, and said the SAR government and the Sports Bureau will actively maintain their cooperation. The Sports Bureau has gradually begun to reopen sports facilities for both athletes and the public, and many events teams are having a phased return to training. It is hoped that the sporting community will continue to cooperate with these efforts.
The meeting also reported on the planning work of the public sports facility network, the operation of the Athletic Training and Development Centre, and the construction progress of several new sports ground facilities, including planning and construction of the support building for the Athletic Training and Development Centre, the construction works of the Mong-ha Sports Centre, the rebuilding plan of the International Shooting Centre and the North East Taipa Sports Centre, the Lin Fong Sports Centre and surrounding area project, and the Tap Seac Youth Sports and Culture Event Centre project.
