On 5th June, the Macao Sport Development Board interviewed nearly a hundred applicants who are qualified to apply for the voluntary work as specified in the General Policies Governing Volunteers of the Guangzhou Asian Games and have met the basic requirements for MSAR applicants at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion.
Interview committee members included, Vice President of the Macao Sport Development Board José Tavares and Division Head Chao Kuok Wai; Deputy Director of the Culture and Education Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in MSAR Zhang Xiaoguang and Assistant Officer Wang Lujiao; President of Sports and Olympic Committee of Macao, China Lou Keng Chio and Council Member Lai Pak Leng; Macao Polytechnic Institute lecturers Lao Hio Peng and Che Hoi Weng and English Examiners from MPI-Bell Centre of English David Sansom and Lois Johnson.
According to the instructions of the Volunteer Department of Guangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee, applicants were assessed on the following criteria: language proficiency (including Putonghua and English), enthusiasm for volunteer work, spontaneous response, communication etiquette and mental attitude etc.
Following the assessment, the Macao Sport Development Board will recommend their final candidates to the Guangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee according to the recruitment procedures of the Guangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee. The Guangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee will next finalise and announce the list of the accepted candidates and release the recruitment notice in July 2010. Finalised candidates must be available to participate in field training and report for their voluntary work at a designated venue no less than seven days before the opening of the Asian Games.
