Jointly organised by the Macao Sport Development Board and the Macao China Dragon Boat Association, co-organised by the Civic & Municipal Affairs Bureau and the Civil Service Bureau; the 2010 Macao International Dragon Boat Races were held at Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre on 12th, 13th and 16th June. The event attracted many residents and tourists who cheered on the racing teams. Chief Executive Dr. Fernando Chui Sai On, presided over the event and presented prizes to the winning teams. The entire venue was filled with a festive and joyful atmosphere.
This year the International Dragon Boat Races welcomed the best groups from numerous countries and regions. Apart from last year’s champion, China’s Nanhai Jiujiang Team; the Philippines National Team, the Singapore National Team, the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Association Team, the San Francisco Cardinal Crewzers and the Malaysia Team were also invited to Macao to compete in the races.
The guests of honour at the award ceremony included the Chief Executive of Macao SAR Dr. Fernando Chui Sai On, Commissioner of the Foreign Ministry in the Macao Special Administrative Region Lu Shumin, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Cheong U, Deputy Director of the Culture and Education Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macao SAR Zhang Xiaoguang, Member of the Legislative Assembly Wong Hin Fai, Portuguese Consul General in Macao Manuel Maria Cansado de Carvalho, Chief of the Office of Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Cheong So Mui Cecilia, President of the Macao Sport Development Board Vong Iao Lek, President of Macao China Dragon Boat Association Wong Kit I, Chairman of the Administrative Committee of I.A.C.M. Tam Vai Man, President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau Ung Vai Meng, Director of the Macao Government Tourist Office Engineer João Antunes, Honorary President of the Macao China Dragon Boat Association Lam Ieng Lok, President of the Sports and Olympic Committee of Macao, China Lo Keng Chio and Sports Council Member Van Kuan Lok.
After three days of competition, the 2010 Macao International Dragon Boat Races has successfully concluded. The following table shows the winners of different events:
