The 4th East Asia Judo Championships were contested at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion on 19th and 20th June, attracting nearly 100 athletes from six countries and regions - including China , Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong China, Macao China - competing in seven categories of Men’s and Women’s single competition as well as team competitions.
The opening ceremony, held on 19th June, was attended by Vice-President of the Judo Union of Asia and President of the East Asian Judo Association Kim Jung Haeng, President of the Macao Sport Development Board Vong Iao Lek, Secretary General of the Judo Union of Asia Cho Yong Chul, Chief Referee Takao Kawaguchi, Secretary General of the East Asian Judo Association Moon Won Bae, Chief Referee Kaoru Matsui, Sports Council members Van Kuan Lok, Chan Weng Kit, Lam Fat Meng and Chang Chin Nam and representatives of various Macao Sport Associtions.
The Japanese team took four gold medals in the championships, ranking first in the medal tally, with Korea and Chinese Taipei placing second and third, respectively, while Macao was ranked fifth with four bronze medals.
