Jointly organised by the Sports Bureau of Guangdong Province, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the HKSAR, Macao Sport Development Board, and the Guangdong Provincial Sports Industrial Association, the 7th GD/HK/MAC International Sporting Goods Fair and the 11th Guangdong International Sporting Goods Fair were ceremoniously opened at the Poly World Trade Centre in Guangzhou on 28th September 2010.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Yang Shuan, Deputy Director of the General Administration of Sport of China, Xu Deli, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC Guangdong Provincial Committee, Liu Fumin, Director of the Finance Department of the General Administration of Sport of China, Law Wai Yee, Chief Leisure Services Manager of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the HKSAR, and Lam Lin Kio, Head of the Sports Development Department of the Macao Sport Development Board. Following the announcement of the opening of the fairs by Yang Naijun, Director-General of the Sports Bureau of Guangdong Province, the guests of honour entered the expo centre and visited the booths.
This year, the design of the Macao exhibition booth was even more eye-catching, while popular sports games from previous fairs were preserved in order to enable visitors to further understand the sports development of Macao and gain access to sports information related to the large-scale international sports events recently held in Macao, sport for all activities and sports venue etc, while participating in the sports games. The Macao booth was well received by visitors and has become an important gateway for the people of Guangdong Province and Hong Kong who are interested in and concerned about the sports activities of Macao.
The fairs were held at the Poly World Trade Expo Centre in Guangzhou for three consecutive days from 28th September. This year’s fairs featured a variety of exhibits, ranging from sports venue facilities and equipment, fitness machines and outdoor leisure products to aquatic sports facilities and professional sportswear, etc. The fairs attracted nearly 200 renowned sporting goods corporations, setting an all-time record.
