The 1st Asian Para Games was held in Guangzhou from 12th to 19th December. This was not only a sports event for the disabled athletes, but also a humanistic event for human beings in general to break through limits, to cherish participation and to share the joys, friendship, dreams and success brought by sports. It is also an event for self-challenge, pursuit of values in life, exhibits of self-esteem, self-confidence and independence. Members of the Asian Paralympic Committees from 41 countries and regions and more than 2,000 athletes participate in this event.
There were 19 sports and 432 events in this Asian Para Games, of which 17 were Paralympic sports and the remaining two, table tennis and bowling, were non-Paralympic sports. The Macao Sports Delegation participated in 4 sports including track and field, badminton, boccia and table tennis.
During the Game, the Macao Sports Development Board organized an observation tour consisted of members of the Macao sports circle to attend the Game and to support the Macao’s athletes, who demonstrated high spirits and commitment to the competition. Moreover, they also enjoyed meeting and developing friendships with counterparts from around the world.
