“2011 IDSF Asian Dance Sport Championships and Macao IDSF Open” was held in the Multisport Pavilion of Macao Polytechnic Institute on 2nd and 3rd October. The opening ceremony was presided by Keiji Ukai, the President of Asian Dance Sport Federation, Vong Iao Lek, the President of Macao Sport Development Board, Jose Maria da Fonseca Tavares and Pun Weng Kun, Vice-Presidents of Macao Sport Development Board, Zhang Xiaoguang, Deputy Head of the Culture and Education Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, Angela Leong On Kei, the Chairman, and Fok Chi Chiu, the President of the Macao Dance Sport Federation.
The Championships featured both Standard and Latin dances. Approximately 200 pairs of dancers from 15 countries and regions (China, Hong Kong China, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Turkey, Chinese Taipei, Vietnam, Uzbekistan and Macao China), participated in the IDSF Open Standard, IDSF Asian Championships Latin, Macao Youth Open, Macao Youth Competition, Macao and Hong Kong Youth Competition and Macao Dance Sport Open.
On the dance floor, the contestants dazzled the audience with their brilliant dance performances. . They demonstrated their superb dancing skills in romantic Waltz, hot Samba, pleasant Fox Trot, passionate Paso Doble, and lively Jive dance, winning feverish applause from the audience. After intense rounds of competition, the winners of IDSF Open Standard were awarded to Antonio Michell and Katerina Maximova of Australia, the winners of IDSF Asian Championships Latin were Alexandar Makarov and Anastasia Balayeva of Kazakhstan, and the winners of Macao Youth Open Latin, were Xiong Yuxuan and Zhang Qiong of China .
