Jointly presented by the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government and the Macao Special Administrative Region Government (Macao SAR Government), co-organized by the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination and Macao Sport Development Board, the exhibition entitled “River of Wisdom - Animated Version of the Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival” (Macao Exhibition), designed and produced by the Crystal Computer Graphics Limited, will be displayed from March 25 to April 14 at Macao East Asian Games Dome.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Dr. Chui Sai On, Chief Executive of the Macao SAR. Other officiating guests included Ho Hau Wah, Vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Liu Yungeng, Chairman of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Congress, Gao Yan, Deputy Director General of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, Lu Shumin, Commissioner of the Foreign Ministry in the Macao SAR, Lau Cheok Va, President of the Legislative Assembly of Macao SAR, Cheong U, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of Macao SAR, Yao Mingbao, Secretary-general of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Congress, Tam Chon Weng, Chief of the Office of the Chief Executive, Li Mingjun, Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, Chen Anjie, Deputy Director General of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, Tong Chi Kin, President of Administrative Committee of the Science and Technology Development Fund, and Vong Iao Lek, President of the Macao Sport Development Board.
The exhibition is centered on the Animated Version of the Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival, the salient exhibit of the China Pavilion, which has received overwhelming response and compliments from both local and overseas visitors in the Shanghai Expo. Arriving in Macao, the exhibition is showcased with many additional elements, including history, culture, art and education, to introduce the significance of the “Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival” in Chinese culture and art. Information about the conception and production of the animated version of the painting are also presented. Through panels and artefacts display, it allows visitors to learn more about the urban view, people’s daily lives and prosperity of Bianjing (the capital of the Northern Song Dynasty) of nearly nine hundred years ago. Interpreted using innovative computer animation technology, it will also provide the younger generation with a better understanding of the longstanding and well-established Chinese culture and history, sharing with them the glory of Chinese civilization.
