The 4th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Basketball Exchange was held at Hong Kong Park Sports Center on January 15th and 16th this year. The activity was organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government and co-organized by the Sport Bureau of Guangdong Province and the Sport Development Board of the Macao SAR Government, as a key project for youths under the framework of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Sports Exchange and Cooperation Agreement, which aims to create opportunities for the youths from the three regions to test their skills, enhance sports and cultural exchange, and promote friendship among the youths.
After rounds of fierce competitions, the Guangdong Team and the Hong Kong Team won the championship of the men’ and women’s games respectively, while the Macao Team snatched the second runner-up place. The games attracted many parents of the players and residents to the competition venue, rooting for the teams in a lively atmosphere.
In addition, the organizer held a banquet for officials of Guangdong Province and Macao at noon of January 15th. Present at the banquet were Rebecca Lou, Chief Leisure Manager of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government; Zheng Junhui, Deputy Director of the Science Education and Exchange Department of the Sports Bureau of Guangdong Province; and José Tavares, Vice President of the Macao Sport Development Board, etc. The three parties took the opportunities during the gathering to discuss ideas for sports exchange and cooperation for 2011.
