With the objective of promoting Sport for All, further developing its wide-ranging functions and effects on the society, as well as enriching local social and cultural life, the Macao Sport Development Board held the first “World Walking Day Hiking Trip” Activity at the Seac Pai Van Park on October, 2nd.
The activity kicked off with an opening ceremony at 9:25 a.m. The Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Mr. Cheong U, the President of the Macao Sport Development Board, Mr. Vong Iao Lek, the Director of the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, Ms. Leong Lai, Vice-Presidents of the Macao Sport Development Board, Mr. José Tavares and Mr. Pun Weng Kun, members of the Sport Council, and sports association representatives all attended the ceremony.
The hiking activity commenced immediately after the ceremony. The circuit altogether covered a length of about 4 km, starting off at the Central Square of the park, passing by the A-Ma statue, and descending from Estrada do Alto de Coloane. Over 1,200 people took part in the activity.
