Every year, the Macao Sport Development Board organizes various leisure activities for people from different age groups and levels of ability, in order to encourage the public to exercise and participate in sports beneficial to physical and mental development and to promote lifelong participation in sports.
Organized by the Macao Sport Development Board and co-organized by the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macao, Macao Federation of Trade Unions and the Women’s General Association of Macao, 2014 Family Sports Day was held in Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion on June 22nd. The event aims to encourage the general public’s participation in sport and to maintain physical health, as well as to drum up children’s interest in sports, to strengthen family relationships through effective team-working. Approximately two thousand participant took part in the event. Parents and children cooperated in different leisure and sport activities, creating a homely and convivial atmosphere.
The activity was carried out by children’s age groups: Group A (age 7-10), Group B (age 4-6) and Group C (age 2-3). Respectively, the groups engaged in a couple of sport activities to win the places of champion, first runner-up, second runner-up and the fourth place, as well as six excellence awards. In addition to the sportive elements, the game booths and the live shows also made this an enjoyable event for families.
Attending guests included President of the Macao Sport Development Board José Tavares, Director of the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau Leong Lai, Deputy Director of the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macao Choi Tat Meng, Deputy Director of the Macao Federation of Trades Union Chan Chi Meng, Chairwoman of the Women’s General Association of Macao Lam Un Mui, and other members from the Sports Committee. The guests hosted the opening ceremony and presented the awards to the winning teams.
