The ‘Sports and Art Performances Celebrating the 15th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao SAR –Super Star Concert’, hosted by the Macao SAR Government and supported by the Macau Sport Development Board, took place at the Olympic Sports Centre - Stadium in the afternoon of 20th December 2014. The event attracted over 15,000 spectators.
Mr.José Tavares, President of the Macau Sport Development Board; Mr.Zhang Xiaoguang, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR.; Mr.Huang Hang Qian, Director-General of Department of General Affairs of Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of PRC; Mr.Pun Weng Kun and Mr.Allen Lau, the Vice-Presidents of the Macau Sport Development Board presided over the opening ceremony of the show. Guests pulled down the control handle, releasing thousands of balloons into the sky, symbolising the further development of Macao.
The concert featured Andy Lau, Leon Lai, Aaron Kwok, William So, Edmond Leung, Justin Lo, Pang Veng Sam and Kandy Wong to perform, while Asia Games award-winning athletes Jia Rui, Wang Junnan, Liu Qian, Choi Sut Ian sang with Macao singer Pang Veng Sam. Their performance gave rise to a lively and overwhelming atmosphere on site.
Singers from Hong Kong and Macao sang their greatest hits, and showed off their best dance moves to celebrate the anniversary of Macao’s handover with joy and warmth; the enthusiastic response of spectators helped bring about the concert’s climax. A cheerful atmosphere was sustained for the entire afternoon.
