The 3rd Macao Sports Committee Meeting of 2015 took place in the conference room of the Macao East Asian Games Dome on 19th August. The Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture and the President of the Macao Sports Committee, Dr. Alexis, Tam Chon Weng, presided over the meeting.
The meeting sought opinions from committee members on the confirmation of legal persons in the sports sector before introducing the plan of revitalisation of the former Estoril Hotel and Estoril swimming pool, and briefed the organisation of the Macao sports delegates to the 1stNational Youth Games. Members were also invited to witness the virtual torch relay for the 1st National Youth Games in Macao.
The suggested amendments to the Regulation of Awards for Highly Competitive Sports and Regulation of Awards for Sports for the Disabled were espoused in detail in the last session of the meeting. The amendment recommends merging the two regulations into one, where the new law will be titled Regulation for High-Level. Sports Incentive Awards and the prevailing Sports Certificate Conferral Regulations will be renamed Regulation for the Sports Certificates of Merit. Furthermore, it proposed to adopt consistent regulations and terms for the awards, including the awarded categories of competitions, regulation and definition of championships, consideration of worth by judging number of players or teams in the contest, and the value of rewards, and so on.
Members initiated a discussion regarding the aforementioned issues and provided many valuable ideas to the Committee.
