The 10th National Games of Ethnic Minorities took place from 9th to 17th August in Ordos City in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The Macao Sport Development Board was invited to attend the Games’ opening ceremony and observe some of its competitions.
The National Games of Ethnic Minorities are held every four years to ensure the implementation of the country’s ethnic policies, and to pass on and further develop traditional ethnic sports as well as build the nationals’ strength. This year’s event was themed ‘Gather in Inner Mongolia to realize the Chinese dream ’.
The opening ceremony of the 10th National Games of Ethnic Minorities was hosted in Ordos Sports Centre Stadium on 9th August. The Games were divided into the categories of firework snatching, pearl ball, cricket, Chinese football, shuttlecock, dragon boat, bamboo canoe drifting, swing, crossbow archery, spinning top, Mongolian tug-of-war, high foot racing, board-shoe racing, ethnic-style martial arts, ethnic-style wrestling, horsemanship, and so on. The next National Games of Ethnic Minorities will take place in 2019 in Henan Province.
