Jointly held by the Sports Bureau of Guangdong Province, the Hong Kong SAR Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Macao Sport Development Board and Continental Holdings Limited, the three-day 12th Guangdong International Sporting Goods Fair began on September 11 at Poly World Trade Centre Exhibition Hall of the Pazhou Complex in Guangzhou. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Wang Yuping, director of the Sports Bureau of Guangdong Province, Mr. Kwan Chung Wai, senior leisure manager of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and Ms. Windy Lou, division head of Sport for All and Special Projects Division of the Macao Sport Development Board. Officiating guests visited the exhibit booths following the inauguration ceremony.
The Sport Goods Fair showcased a wide range of sporting exhibits, including facilities used in sport stadiums, fitness equipment, outdoor leisure products and professional sportswear. The event attracted a great number of visitors from home and aboard as well as those concerned with Macao’s sports affairs. In order to promote the local sports industry, the Macao Sport Development Board displayed, in a booth it installed at the Fair, information regarding major international sport events and Sport For All activities held in Macao, the city’s sports venues, in addition to providing a general introduction of Macao. The booth attracted many visitors to stop by to collect promotional flyers and enquire about the city of Macao. The authority also set up a multimedia area and a basketball shooting game to promote sport in an interactive manner, which was popular with visitors.
