The Macao Sport Development Board held two anti-doping education symposiums on 22nd and 23rd of September to deepen local athletes’ and coaches’ understanding of work against doping as well as of athletes’ obligations and responsibilities.
The Director of Education at CHINADA of General Administration of Sport of China, Mr. Sai Fei, and a member of the department, Mr. Li Keke, attended the symposiums, where they delivered speeches to Macao’s elite athletes, training squad members and coaches. The seminars focused on the design of dope testing schemes, sample collections, considerations for dope testing, exemption on medication taken for treating athletes’ illness as well as dope prevention, and so on. The experts systematically introduced the dope testing procedures and illustrated with examples the importance of anti-doping work.
The symposiums were rich in content. Participants patiently listened to the lectures, exchanged their opinions and engaged in discussions with the experts. The organiser believed that the anti-doping symposium enabled athletes and coaches to learn about dope types and their hazards, raise the athletes’ awareness of preventing dope misuse in illness treatment and other situations in their daily life, thereby safeguarding the athletes’ physical and mental health whilst maintaining their sense of sportsmanship, fairness and justice.
In addition, the Board will continuously invite members of the CHINADA of General Administration of Sport of China to Macao. They will help to strengthen the training of Macao’s anti-doping personnel in order to lend more support to dope testing conducted for large-scale sports events to be held locally in the future, providing a fairer and more upright field for sports competition in Macao.
