In order to foster exchanges and co-operation between the Macao SAR and Beijing in sports, the Macao Sport Development Board organised a delegation of 41 young athletes to Beijing to participate in the Beijing-Macao Youth Sports Exchange Activities held from 7th to 10th August. During the event, delegates exchanged skills with the young athletes there in tennis, fencing, judo and martial arts; through such activities, the young athletes of Beijing and Macao formed closer friendships, while co-operation between the two places as well as their local sports development was strengthened.
The Beijing-Macao Youth Sports Exchange Activities is an event implemented under the framework of the Beijing-Macao Sports Exchange and Co-operation Agreement inked in 2013 between the sports departments of the two regions. Now in its second edition, the activity seeks to deepen bilateral exchanges by organising visits between the young athletes of the two places.
Adhering to the spirit of the Beijing-Macao Sports Exchange and Co-operation Agreement, the sports departments of the two regions have maintained a good co-operation relationship, providing the young people of Beijing and Macao with a platform for mutual learning, whilst enhancing understanding and friendship and facilitating exchange and co-operation in youth sports. The relationship has also deepened understanding of the sports sectors in the two areas, serving as a solid foundation for further sports exchange and co-operation between Beijing and Macao.
