The GD/HK/MAC Youth Football Exchange, organized by the Macao Sport Development Board of the MSAR Government and supported by the Sports Bureau of Guangdong Province, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the HKSAR and the Macao Football Association, took place on September 19 and 20 at the miniature football field in the Olympic Sport Centre - Multi-Purpose Zone. The Macao side dispatched students of the Football Youth Academy to participate in Group A (players born in 2002 and 2003) and Group B (players born in 2004 and 2005) competitions with Guangdong and Hong Kong counterparts. A total of six teams vied for supremacy in the contest, for which a single round robin system was adopted.
This is the ninth year since the GD/HK/MAC Youth Football Exchange Programme was first held. Since the sports authorities of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao signed the Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Sports Exchange and Cooperation Agreement in 2003, the three parties have collaboratively been committed to the development of youth sports. The organiser hoped that the youth of the three regions would learn from one another, develop a friendly spirit and build up a solid friendship on the football field.
Following vigorous competitions, the champions, first runner-ups and second runner-ups were respectively as follows: Group A: Hong Kong, Guangdong, Macao; Group B: Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao.
