In the morning of 18 February, the Sports Bureau and the Cycling General Association of Macao co-organized a leisure activity celebrating the Chinese New Year entitled “New Year's Fortune Bike Ride”, which attracted more than 150 people to ride a “Fortune Bike” during the Chinese New Year holiday. The event was filled with joy and excitement. Pun Weng Kun, President of the Sports Bureau, hoped that the activity could allow the residents to spend their holiday properly and enjoy themselves in the festive atmosphere of the Chinese New Year, as well as increase residents' interest in healthy activities at the event.
The participants began to ride in the open space beside the Olympic Sports Centre at 8:30 a.m. The route went by Rua do Desporto, the entrance of the Sai Van Bridge, Taipa Waterfront Leisure Area (Cycle Track), Seac Pai Van Square and the University of Macau, among others. The route was around 21 kilometers in length. Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Dr. Alexis Tam Chon Weng, President of the Sports Bureau Pun Weng Kun, Chairman of the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau Administration Committee, José Tavares and many other individuals in the sports sector participated in this event. All participants began their ride at the starting point after receiving the blessing from the“God of Wealth”. Many participants decorated their bikes with lucky pinwheels, symbolizing good luck in the Year of the Dog.
