The 7th World Junior Wushu Championships took place in the capital of Brazil, Brasilia from July 12 to 15. The Macao Wushu team dispatched 12 athletes specializing in Routine and Sanda to participate. Eventually, they completed the events of Group A, B, and C, winning 4 golds, 6 silvers and 3 bronzes. The delegation returned to Macao on July 18 in triumph.
Wong Sam In, who was promoted to Group A this year, became a great winner in the events. She was crowned the champions in Group A women's southern broadsword and southern fist, and she also won a bronze in the southern cudgel. Another two gold medals awarded to the team were gained by Weng Pek I from Group B women's broadsword and Kuok Wai Meng from Group C women's long fist. Wong Sam In, who had won 2 golds individually, stated that her opponents in Group A were strong and each athlete was as competitive as the other. She was overjoyed as she had achieved the result of 2 golds and 1 bronze. After the World Junior Wushu Championships, Wong Sam In will continue her training so as to be qualified to compete in the Asian Youth Championships next year.
