The Asian Muaythai Championships 2018, hosted by Macau MuayThai Association and sponsored by the Sports Bureau, took place from the 5th to 11th of December at Macao Forum. In this six-day feast, Muaythai competitors competed for champions, runner-up and second runner-up titles in 17 categories. Macao athletes Tam Si Long and Suen Tak Chuen were awarded two medals.
Tam Si Long, the only Macao female athlete, defeated contestants from Sri Lanka and Malaysia in the women's 48 kg weight class. In the Grand Final, Tam Si Long confronted Thai contestant Tantuwai bravely, leading 10:9 in the first match. In the second match, she took the game by 10:9 and had the game in her hands. In the third match, Tantuwai reinforced her attacks and won the match. However, Tam Si Long eventually won with a total score of 29:28, winning the championship in the women's 48kg weight class and the first medal of the Asian Muaythai Championships for Macao.
The championship bout for the men's 54 kg weight class was between Suen Tak Chuen and Thai boxer Longtekou. In the first match, Suen Tak Chuen bested his opponent by 10:9. In the second match, Suen Tak Chuen defended his opponent's attacks successfully, winning another match by 10:9. In the third match, Suen Tak Chuen lost to his opponent but won overall 29:28 and thus gained the championship title of the men's 54 kg weight class.
