The two matches of the 16^th Guangdong-Macao Football Cup Tournament were held on the 27^th of October and the 2^nd of November. It was the first time that the Guangdong team competed against Macao as a visiting team and won with the score of 2:1 over Macao. Subsequently, Guangdong won with 2:0 again as the home team. In total, the Guangdong team won the cup with 4:1 in two matches. 

The first match of the Guangdong-Macao Cup was held in the evening on October 27 at Macao Stadium. Both the home team, Macao, and Guangdong team did not score throughout the first half of the match. At the 60^th minute, Lei Ka Him assisted from the right and Cheong Hoi San who reinforced in the penalty area shot to the goal from a blind angle and helped the team score for the first time. However, Macao team made mistakes repeatedly in the last ten minutes and as a result Guangdong team took the chance to shoot twice successively winning 2:1.

In the next match held on November 2 at Guangdong Provincial Stadium, Guangzhou, Macao team failed to perform stably and Guangdong team had an edge over it quickly at the beginning of the match. Macao team lagged behind with 0:1. Fifteen minutes later, Guangdong team shot again and led 2:0. Subsequently, Macao team attempted to counterattack but regrettably failed. Guangdong team eventually won another match with 2:0, and won 4:1 in total over Macao in two matches.   

Cheang Cheng Ieong Paulo, who would be retiring officially after the Guangdong-Macao Cup Competition, stated“I have many good memories with the team throughout my career. I would like to express my gratitude towards the government, the football association, the football league, my coach, my teammates and the fans for their support. I hope that the young generation of Macao players will never give up!”
