The Sports Council held a general assembly in the conference room of Macao East Asian Games Dome on July 12. The meeting was officiated by Dr. Alexis Tam Chon Weng, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture and President of the Sports Council. Many issues were discussed in the meeting.
In the meeting, the work in relation to the 4th Macao Residents Physical Fitness Monitoring, which was initiated from January to April 2020, was reported. Issues related to infrastructure construction of sports facilities were also reported, including the follow-up works of the construction of Athletic Training and Development Centre and the planning for the research on the refurbishment of the International Shooting Range and the Taipa Northeast Sports Centre.
In addition, Dr. Alexis Tam Chon Weng congratulated the Macao SAR sports delegation on winning a bronze in the women's southern fist in the wushu event of the 2nd Youth Sports Games in the People's Republic of China. He recognized the effort made by various sports associations and their subordinate organizations, and encouraged them to communicate with their athletes and strive for more opportunities and platforms where they could compete, so as to contribute to Macao's development in competitive sports and achieve excellence.
Finally, debriefing sessions about Macao delegation's participation in various large multisport events in 2019 and the planning for various large sports event in the second half of 2019 were conducted.
