The 2019 Wushu Masters Challenge, which was hosted by the Sports Bureau and Wushu General Association of Macau and undertaken by the Macao Government Tourism Office, Cultural Bureau and Cultural Industry Fund, was held from August 1 to 4. Although many events held at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion were affected by unstable weathers, the event was supported by residents and many wushu enthusiasts. It was quite lively there.
In the event“ICKF World Combat Championship - Macao”held on the first day, contestants coming from China, Brazil, the US, South Korea, the Philippines, Argentina, Kazakhstan, Hong Kong, Macao and other countries and regions engaged in seven ICKF World Combat and Asian Golden Belt events of different weight classes. The hosting region Macao sent two contestants Adrián Ramos and Un Si Man to participate in the Asian freestyle boxing golden belt men's 66-kg event and the world MMA golden belt women's 52-kg event respectively. Eventually, Ramos fought intensely against Hong Kong contestant Wong Ting Kai for three rounds and finally won with 30:27, 29:28 and 30:27 respectively. Un Si Man competed with Argentine contestant Rolla Bahrain and was defeated by her opponent's triangular lock 2 minutes 04 seconds into the match.
In the“Greater Bay Area Boxing Invitational”, which was held at night on August 2, Macao contestant Tam Si Long competed with Thai counterpart Nantachat in the women's 52-kg boxing performance. They tied after an amazing fight. In terms of men's 57-kg event, Macao contestant Tong Ieng Seng and Tan Chiqiang from Shenzhen fought throughout three rounds. Eventually, Tong Ieng Seng defeated his opponent by a small margin.
In the afternoon on August 3, “The Belt and Road Lion Dancing Invitational”was held at Stadium A of Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion. Teams from China, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Hong Kong and Macao competed for southern-styled lion dancing and night dragon dancing. In the southern-styled lion dancing taolu event, Macao Worker Wushu Fitness Association and Lo Leong Sports General Association could not become the best three teams. Eventually, Foshan South China Sea Huang Fei Hong Zhonglian Cable Wushu Dragon and Lion Association defeated all the other teams with a set called“Over the Mountains”and won the champion title with 9.15 points. In the night dragon dancing event at night, the third team Lo Leong Sports General Association got 9.15 points with smooth performance and won the third place among seven teams. The champion team was the dancing team from Yahya Wah Hong Immortal Temple, Malaysia. The second place went to the Jinan Dragon and Lion Sports Association, Singapore.
In the“Sanda Boxing Ring Challenge”held in the afternoon on August 3 at Stadium B of Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion, Macao Sanda Team sent three contestants. Choi Fei Long, who had once won a silver in the World Championship, defeated a Korean contestant decisively and his teammates from other two weight classes, Kan Kai Wa and Chan Kin Hou also got victories.
In the finale“Wushu Dragon and Lion Parade”on August 4, a number of teams set off from Senado Square, passed by the Ruins of Saint Paul and Tap Seac Square. Amazing wushu and dragon and lion dancing performances took place in the course, attracting many residents and visitors to watch the performances. The atmosphere was lively. At night, the closing ceremony was held at Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion, concluding the wonderful Wushu Masters Challenge.
