The “East Asia Super League - The Terrific 12”, jointly hosted by Sports Bureau and Asia League, took place from September 17 to 22 at Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion. Teams from twelve top East Asian basketball clubs coming from China, Japan, South Korea and the Philippines competed intensively in multiple matches. Eventually, Liaoning Flying Leopards defeated Seoul SK Knights with a close margin by 83:82 and was crowned the champion.
In the match among the best four teams, Liaoning Flying Leopards, as a strong team from China, won 111:89 over San Miguel Beermen from the Philippines. Seoul SK Knights from South Korea defeated Zhejiang Guangsha Lions by 77:76. These two strong teams from China and South Korea, who participated in The Terrific 12 for the first time, competed against each other and brought out an unforgettable match for basketball fans.
In the first half of the champion match, Seoul SK Knights first led 27:20 in the first quarter. In the second quarter, Liaoning Flying Leopards' player Mejri shot from the basket bottom, helping his team to come from behind by 43:38. In the second half, with the amazing coordination among players of each team, both teams once had an edge over the other. During the last 11 seconds of the match, Stephenson, who performed excellently, made two penalty shots and got the last two points of the total 34 points which he got in the entire match. He led Liaoning Flying Leopards to win definitely by 81:77, together with Lao Chi Hin's penalty shot. Although Seoul SK Knights tried to catch up and minimized the margin to mere one point, it was still too late, as Liaoning Flying Leopards won the champion match by 83:82. They won the champion trophy although it was merely the first time they had participated in the event. Stephenson, who got 125 points in total in all four matches, was selected as the most valuable player .
In the match deciding the third place, Zhejiang Guangsha Lions and San Miguel Beermen competed and finally Zhejiang Guangsha Lions won the third place by 91:89.
