Guangdong and Macao Youth Sailing Summer Camp 2019, jointly organized by the Macau Sailing Association and the Guangzhou Sailing Club and sponsored by the Sports Bureau, took place from July 7 to 12 in Macao.

The hosts stated that this Summer Camp aimed to promote sailing among the youths from Macau and Guangzhou. Through interactive activities, the young athletes and coaches from both places could improve their skill levels. Meanwhile, they also developed a deeper understanding of the sailing culture.

The Guangzhou Windsurfing Club dispatched a delegation of 18 athletes to participate in the Summer Camp in Macao, including 12 sailing athletes aged between 8 and 16. In Macao, they engaged in theory-based courses and sailing practices in the sea everyday, which lasted 6 to 7 hours. On the last day of the Summer Camp, athletes from both places engaged in a friendly match, in which they learnt skills from each other. After this event, many participants stated that they had learnt a lot and they looked forward to taking part again in the future.
