The“2018 National Day and World Walking Day Fun Run”was held by the Macao SAR government, was organized by the Sports Bureau, and was co-organized by the General Association of Athletics of Macau. The event took place on the 1st of October, the National Day. It attracted up to 18,000 participants running and walking in a 3-km race course. Iao Kuan Un from the men's group won three Champion titles in the races. He won the“National Day Cup”with the overall shortest finishing time. Wu Yangyang became the best runner in the women's group. The Group Award of National Day Cup was awarded to the Macao Jiangmen Communal Society.
The race this year was launched on the National Day after the flag-raising ceremony which was held at the Golden Lotus Square at 8:00 a.m., witnessed by Chief Executive Chui Sai On. The race was led by runners of the men's group and the women's group. Iao Kuan Un, who defended the champion title, remained leading along the last 1-km way before the finishing line and became the first runner with 8 minutes 35 seconds and 59 milliseconds. Ip Seng Tou came second with 8 minutes 41 seconds and 28 milliseconds. Lok Chong Leng finished the race as the third with 8 minutes 55 seconds and 47 milliseconds. In the women's group, Hoi Long, who had been the champion 9 consecutive times, did not participate this year. Wu Yangyangbecame the best female runner for the first time with 10 minutes 18 seconds and 46 milliseconds. Lei Cho Ieng and Ng Un Ian became the second place with 11 minutes 16 seconds and 41 milliseconds and the third place and 11 minutes 19 seconds and 43 milliseconds respectively.
The awarding ceremony took place after the race. The award presenters included Dr. Chui Sai On, Chief Executive of Macao SAR, Zheng Xiaosong, Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region, Shen Beili, Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Macao Special Administrative Region, Major General Liao Zhengrong, Commander of the People's Liberation Army Macao Garrison, and Major General Zhou Wugang, Political Commissar of the People's Liberation Army Macao Garrison, Ho Iat Seng, President of the Legislative Assembly, and Sam Hou Fai, President of the Court of Final Appeal.
